Match Preview: Real Betis vs Real Madrid, La Liga BBVA, 2014
Saturday 18th January 2014, 8:30 pm IST
Benito Villa Marin
Will Real Madrid add to the misery of Real Betis?, as they travel to Benito Villamarin to face the Juan Carlos Garrido’s team who are right down at the bottom of the table in the league.
Los Blancos are in superb form in the league competition as they have remained unbeaten in their last 9 matches and continue to impressive in the second half of the season as they are yet to concede a goal since the beginning of the year.
The match can be predicted as an easy one considering the form, the host team is in; but the Madrid camp will have in back of their mind, last year’s defeat they face against Betis away from home.
Real Madrid will be confident to go into the match after they register their spot in the Copa Del Rey quarter finals after they defeated Osasuna a couple of day ago. Ancelotti will come up with few changes as Diego Lopez will make his way in place of Iker Casillas.
The defensive front will be filled with experience of Pepe, team captain Sergio Ramos and Marcelo. Fabio Coentrao will come in as the fourth man in the back line.
The mid-field will consist of most favourite Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric who is doing the most impressive work of creating the chances for the team. Modric was rested for the last match against Osasuna.Ancelotti will have to choose between Isco and Illarramendi for the third mid-field player in the starting line-up.
The front line of attack is definite to provide some sparkling performance with the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema. There will be tuff competition for the spot of left winger in the team, between Ancelotti preferred Gareth Bale and more impressive Angel Di Maria who is running out of proper chances in the team.
Real Madrid will be without injured players Sami Khedira, Raphael Varane and new addition to the list, Alvaro Morata who injured his eyes in match against Osasuna.
Real Madrid is in third position in the league table, 3 points behind Barcelona and Athletico Madrid who are in the first and second position respectively.
For Real Betis, there isn’t much to defend season and has done no good to boost their performance. A new manager in Garrido is sought to bring some respectable results to the team. Betis have won only two matches out of their 19, in the league competition this season, which shows their poor record and justify their position in the table standings.
For Real Betis midfielder Nono will miss out due to suspension and long-term absentee Xavi Torres, Nosa Igiebor (hamstring) and Alvaro Vadillo (thigh) will not participate due to injuries. Also midfielder Joan Verdu is a doubted to start due to an unspecified illness.
Stephan Anderson, Betis goal keeper can make a comeback after being rested for the cup match against Althletic Bilbao, which they lost.
